Introducing Smart Select

Whether you're isolating characters for animation or refining a scene for a game or short film, selecting the right objects quickly and precisely is essential.

Introducing Smart Select: Faster, smarter, and more intuitive object selection with just one click.

Smart Select uses Morphic's AI capabilities to automatically detect and highlight individual elements like characters, props, or background objects in your frames. With a simple hover and click, you can now:

  • Select any detected object in a single click
  • Isolate characters or props to place them on separate layers
  • Exclude background
  • Remove unwanted selections

Smart select removes all the friction, such as tracing, refining edges, and switching between brushes. Just hover your mouse and click, and Morphic does the heavy lifting. It’s the fastest way to prepare your scene for animation, motion design, or creative editing.

How to use it

Here's a quick tutorial on how to use Smart Select on Morphic Studio:

  1. Upload or generate an image in Canvas
  2. Select the image, then open the Focus Mode menu and choose Object Selection
  3. Morphic will automatically detect objects in the image
  4. As you hover your cursor, individual assets will be highlighted
  5. Click to select the assets you want; multiple selections are allowed
  6. With your selection made, choose one of the following options:
    1. Separate as layer – to isolate the object on its own layer
    2. Exclude background – to keep the object and remove the rest
    3. Remove selection – to remove the selected item(s) entirely
